How to prepare for laser hair removal
Good prep makes laser safer and more effective. Have a consultation and patch test first, keep out of the sun and off the fake tan for 2 weeks, and shave the area the day before each session.

Before your first session
Every course at Haven starts the same way:
- A consultation: we go through your skin, hair and medical history.
- A patch test on a small area. Treatment starts once the skin has settled.
- Suitability depends on your skin tone and hair colour. We will tell you honestly if laser is not right for you.
Before every session
Three rules:
- Avoid sun and fake tan for at least 2 weeks before.
- Shave the area 24 hours before your appointment.
- Do not wax, pluck or thread between sessions. Shaving is fine.
During and after
Most people feel a quick warm snap, like a rubber band, and the device has cooling to keep you comfortable. Hair sheds over 1 to 3 weeks after each session, and you will see less regrowth as the course goes on.
How many sessions, and what it costs
Usually 6 to 8 sessions, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Hormonal areas like the face may need occasional top-ups. Prices at Haven are per session:
- Upper lip £20, underarms £22
- Bikini £40, Hollywood £55
- Full leg £100
- Full body £300, or £1,600 for a course of 8
Planning for a wedding?
Start at least 4 to 6 months before the day, so the course is finished in time.
