Waxing vs laser: which costs less over a year?
Waxing costs less per visit. Laser costs more per session but you need far fewer of them. Here is how the numbers compare over a year, using our own price list.

How we worked it out
Waxing lasts about 3 to 4 weeks, so we counted 13 waxes a year (every 4 weeks).
A laser course is usually 6 to 8 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart, so we show both ends of that range. Some areas need occasional top-ups after the course.
Underarms
Close in year one:
- Waxing: £12 x 13 = £156 a year
- Laser: £22 x 6 to 8 sessions = £132 to £176
Hollywood
Laser comes out about the same or less in year one:
- Waxing: £30 x 13 = £390 a year
- Laser: £55 x 6 to 8 sessions = £330 to £440
Full leg
Waxing is cheaper in year one. Laser pays off in the years after, when you are no longer booking every month:
- Waxing: £23 x 13 = £299 a year
- Laser: £100 x 6 to 8 sessions = £600 to £800
It is not only about cost
Waxing works on any hair colour and gives smooth skin straight away. You need some regrowth before each wax.
Laser reduces hair over time, so there is no regrowth to wait for between sessions. It depends on your skin tone and hair colour, which is why it always starts with a consultation and patch test.
