Keratin aftercare: how to make it last
A keratin treatment usually lasts 2 to 4 months. How you look after your hair in the first few days and weeks makes a real difference to where in that range you land.

The first few days
Follow the aftercare your stylist gives you on the day. Most of the time you wait 48 to 72 hours before the first wash.
Until then, keep hair dry and loose where you can. Rain, steam and tight bands can leave kinks.
Washing
Small changes help the smoothness last:
- Use a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner. Sulphates strip the treatment faster.
- Wash with lukewarm water rather than very hot.
- Pat dry gently with a towel instead of rubbing.
Colour and styling
If you want to colour, wait 1 to 2 weeks after your keratin. Colouring before the treatment is even better.
Your hair should dry faster and need less heat. When you do use straighteners or a dryer, a heat protection spray helps.
When to book again
Book a top-up within 12 weeks and you pay the lower top-up price instead of a full treatment.
